THE GUTENBERG’S PRINTING PRESS:
BREAKING THE UNBREAKABLE BARRIER OF LITERACY
CONCLUSION
Compared to the modern society, 15th century Europe did not have access to high speed and quality education. The general public at the time could not break the language barrier of Latin and, therefore, was stuck with the title “illiterate.” However, the invention of the printing press changed the landscape of this era by influencing many different historical events. In addition, the printing press has had an impact on many aspects of the current society and is responsible for dramatic changes of the human history. As Wendell Phillips, the American abolitionist in the 19th century had once said, “What gunpowder did for war, the printing press has done for the mind.”
